China resumes visa issuance at ports from Jan. 8

International Business News – The website of the State Administration of Migration of China issued a notice on December 27, in order to efficiently coordinate the epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, actively adapt to the new situation and new requirements in the new stage of epidemic prevention and control, safeguard the lives and health of the people, and protect and promote the exchange and communication between Chinese and foreign people, the State Administration of Migration has optimized migration management policies and measures since January 8, 2023. Now announced as follows:

First, the orderly resumption of the acceptance and approval of Chinese citizens for travel abroad, visiting friends to apply for ordinary passports, resume processing of mainland residents travel, business to Hong Kong endorsement.

Second, the resumption of acceptance and approval of foreigners applying for ordinary visa extensions, renewals, replacements, stay documents issued, renewals, replacements, residence permits issued, extended, renewals, replacements. If the applicant has urgent needs, he/she can follow the expedited procedure.

Third, the resumption of visa issuance at the port, resume the implementation of the 24/72/144-hour visa-free transit policy, the issuance of temporary entry permits in accordance with the law.

Fourth, resume the issuance of entry and exit permits from the People’s Republic of China, resume the issuance of entry and exit permits for border areas.

Fifth, the gradual restoration of land ports (channels) passenger clearance, the orderly restoration of land ports, border crossing passengers, border entry and exit, border crossing in accordance with the relevant provisions of the resumption of opening, the implementation of entry and exit border inspection.
