Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar shows off his Chinese

According to a report on the website of Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao on November 5, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar showed off his Chinese at the China International Import Expo held in Shanghai on the 5th, saying “the ancestors planted trees, and the descendants enjoyed the shade”, expressing his vision for building a global future together.

According to reports from Malaysia’s Nanyang Business Daily, Sin Chew Daily and other media, Anwar humorously said in his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the CIIE that he had practiced this sentence many times in order to say it well. He also greeted the audience in Chinese by saying “Hello, everyone, everyone”.

The CIIE has come to its seventh session, and this year’s theme is “New Era, Shared Future”.

According to the report, Anwar said that the theme of “shared future” proposed by China is welcomed by countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the global South.

In his speech, he promised that Malaysia, which will serve as the rotating chair of ASEAN next year, will be committed to strengthening regional cooperation.

He said: “In this regard, we hope to respond to the forward-looking principle of a common future advocated by China.”

The report also said that Anwar emphasized that the CIIE not only provides opportunities for Chinese companies, but also provides an opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises around the world to demonstrate their capabilities and strengths.
